Bschool for London recruiting
I am currently in Asia working in equity research in buyside. The firm is not globally well known but is fairly respected in Asia and outside Asia people who focus on the same strategy may know the firm. I graduated from UG for ~ 8years ago from a top school in Asia. For family reason I plan to move to the UK, I have citizenship there. While I could just move there and look for job, it might be better to get an MBA (or anything) from a respected school to get the credentials. I am thinking about LBS, M7 (not HSW) or at worst T15 in the US. I don't think I can get into H/S, Wharton may be a stretch, but seem the rest of M7/LBS/T15 are reachable based on the outcome of my peers. I have a 740 GMAT.I aim to look for the same equity research kind of jobs, opening is always very few and takes a lot of legwork/time/network/luck to get. I already expect a lot of hassles instead of having any hope through the structured programs. I am thinking whether the UK or US schools are better for me in this case. US schools seem to have better general reputation, but wouldn't it be better to be networking on the ground throughout the school years by attending UK schools such as LBS?
Since you already have UK citizenship, I would also try your luck in applying and trying to land interviews. The job market is still fairly candidate driven.
If the goal is to ultimately settle and live your life in the UK, I would study in the UK also. This is not a strict requirement, but not every business school is well-known in the UK.
I started my career in ER and it worked out for me (studied in the US and worked across multiple countries/languages).
Thanks for the input, given it is better to just study in UK if I want to settle down and live my life there, it seems LBS is my best bet.
My another question is if I unfortunately don’t get admitted in LBS, should I try the lower ranked UK schools (Said, Judge, Imperial) or I should just go for T15 in the US?
I would also consider a long term possibility of coming back to Asia, but I guess by that time what matters would be my experience and not where I studied for Bschool
