Back Office FX Settlements to FO treasury?

Hello,

I have been in back office FX clearing and settlement operations role for a little over a year now. I'm working at a major investment bank, but starting to get annoyed and depressed with my current job.

I have a master's degree in finance from a highly rated instituition (in Europe -- the best in my country), but a lackluster GPA average. This was enough to gather a better than average entry salary in BO -- 25-30% higher -- but not enough for much else.

Going to the front office IB is outside of my expectations as that would entail too many hours of weekly work, anyway.

I was wondering, what would I have to do in order to reach a good paying position in other industries. Should I join a BIG 4 and go to audit? Even if I lose salary?

In my mind I still see "front office" treasury positions in non-banking companies for whom I work. A lot of these people have started in audit and a lot of them started internships in their respective industries -- FP&A, etc.

I see a relative few with CFAs, but I think having a CFA designation and no work experience isn't going to be aiding me much. Particularly when coupling it with other designations appears more important for multinationals (CPAs for example).

I wish I had studied harder in school, because right now I'm bored out of my mind. Honestly, at this point learning a bit of german appears more enticing than a CFA, as it would probably raise more questions than answers whistle I have a career in operations.

Really appreciate any feedback,
