Baruch Part Time MBA

M.S graduate from non target University. Currently 3 years work experience in public accounting at big 4.Considering part time MBA at Baruch. I know the disadvantages of part time, but unfortunately I know I wont get a high enough GMAT score to be considered for a top MBA program. I would not waste money on full time non target school. My goals would be to earn a front office banking/financial institution role. Not shooting for any BB IB, PE or anything of that sort. Would be looking at corporate banking, real estate finance roles, valuation, advisory etc... Best case would be IB at MM. Would even be willing to start as an analyst despite having an MBA. Desperately want to get out of public accounting. Does a part time MBA at Baruch seem reasonable for my goals?

I did my undergrad at Baruch, and know a lot about the MBA program. The classes taught for undergrad and at the MBA are largely the same, and offered by the same teachers. I'll be honest here, the teachers and finance curriculum is underwhelming and heavily textbook driven, so you won't be learning any transferable skills you can use in interviews. Teachers also don't give a shit, if you get a response from a teacher good luck.

As far as recruiting goes, recruiting is awful. You will not be increasing your chance to work in any front-office roles. If your only goal of doing an MBA is to get a front office job, please do not attend Baruch. Most people do a Baruch MBA because they just want an MBA on their resume, and the MBA is really cheap and offered for full-time workers, which are both rarely offered by MBA programs.

If you're serious about working in a front office role, take an extra year off and study for the GMAT and kill it. I am sure you can do it. Please don't attend Baruch's MBA program as it'll kill your dreams of working in a front office role.

I second his/her comment. As a fellow Baruch alum don’t wanna throw shade to my own school (went for undergrad) but front office recruiting sadly won’t make  sense on a post grad level. They do offer a nice value proposition for those that can’t afford the price tag of an MBA. If you went to non-target and worried about prestige it’s better to just do what you can to get into a top school later. That’s what we are all striving for anyway. Usually those kids that attend are probably not trying to break into a front office role to begin with just credentials to add to your resume as mentioned above. Save yourself the heartache and crush the GMAT if you couldn't break in. So to OP you have a second shot and you’ll thank us later. Good luck!
