Bocconi University is highly regarded internationally, particularly in Europe, and is considered a target school for many top financial institutions. Here's what you need to know based on the most helpful WSO content:

  1. International Recognition:

    • Bocconi is well-known in Europe and has strong placement in London, which is a major financial hub. It is considered the top Italian university for finance and business-related fields.
    • While Bocconi graduates are seen in the US, the presence is not as strong as in Europe. Breaking into the US market directly from Bocconi can be challenging due to the limited network and on-campus recruiting (OCR) for US-based roles.
  2. Breaking into the US:

    • To increase your chances of breaking into the US, pursuing an MBA at a top US business school could be a strategic move. Top 15 US MBA programs are known for their strong networks and placement in the US job market.
    • Alternatively, gaining work experience in Europe (e.g., London) and then transitioning to the US through internal transfers or networking could be another viable path.
  3. Other International Opportunities:

    • Bocconi has strong placement in London and other European financial hubs. If the US is not immediately accessible, you can leverage Bocconi's network to secure roles in Europe and build your profile for future opportunities.
  4. Steps to Improve Your Chances:

    • Focus on building a strong academic record and gaining relevant internships during your studies.
    • Consider pursuing a Master's degree (e.g., MSc in Finance) at Bocconi or another top European school to further enhance your profile.
    • Develop a strong GMAT score and apply to top US MBA programs if you aim to transition to the US market.
    • Network extensively, both during your time at Bocconi and through alumni connections, to explore opportunities in your target regions.

In summary, while Bocconi is excellent for European placements, breaking into the US market directly may require additional steps like pursuing a top MBA or leveraging work experience in Europe.

Outside US unis and LBS (insead for consulting) there's not many that are well known in the US. You can land a London job and then internally move

For London any of these would be solid (not exhaustive list)

oxbridge, lbs, lse, hec, bocconi, stgallen, escp, sse etc..

For US almost no european unis can make you land a job directly. For the UK, the best go is the top UK ones: Oxbordige, LBS and LSE and to a lesser extent HEC Paris. The others have way lower probabilities to get you there :)
