Can I major in political science and still do investment banking?
I’m a high school senior and unfortunately I didn’t get into the schools I wanted. I applied as economics. My option now is to go to community college and transfer. I was looking at the transfer acceptance rates by major and saw for UCLA business economics was 9% and economics was 14%. It was also explicitly stated that you can’t transfer into this major after admission. I don’t want to risk not getting accepted so I was thinking of doing a different major. Could I major in political science and still pursue an investment banking career?
I’m also confused by this. In high school, you’re labeled as a freshmen, sophomore, junior, or senior by your year. But in community college, you’re labeled as a junior by the amount of credits you have completed. So if I spend one year in community and do 60 credits, I’m a junior. However, if I spend 2 years in community and do 60 credits, I’m still a junior. The reason I mention this is because I have been reading that it’s really important to get internships in your sophomore year. If I finish community in one year and transfer to ucla, am I a junior or a sophomore? Would it be possible for me to do well after transferring and pursue an investment banking career?
