Can I use my MBA GPA to apply for other Masters programs?
I'm a recent undergraduate student and I have a low GPA (2.7). I was wondering whether it would be possible to use my MBA GPA to get into other masters programs. If my MBA GPA is significantly higher than my UG GPA would my low UG GPA still negatively affect me in getting into another masters program? (e.g., MSc, JD, etc.)
Thanks in advance!
Don't think MBA programs generally focus on GPA. My sense is that many of the top ones prohibit disclosure of GPA during recruiting, even.
It would depend on which masters program you are trying to get into. For JD, if you were say a poli sci or public policy major, then that 2.7 would hurt you. But if you were doing quantitative finance, then your MBA GPA might possibly save you.
Why in the world are you going for a 3rd degree!!!!!!?????!!! UG + MBA should = good job, or at least decent job. 3 is overkill IMO. But ya, you can put your MBA GPA. They will prob ask you why the fuck you need 3 degrees though.
In terms of a JD, you're SOL. They don't care what your major was and won't let you replace a bad UG GPA with a MBA one.
No definitive answer it seems. Maybe it differs by institution...
Well any kind of Academic/test excellence you can show (like other Masters/GMAT/etc) always helps. But still, nothing really effaces the Undergrad GPA, which remains pretty important
