Before I begin, business school is an idea I’ve only recently begun exploring. From the posts I’ve read on the topic of admissions, it seems aside from GPA/GMAT/UGrad/volunteerism&ECs, heavy importance is placed on your career progression within your prior work experience. This leads me to my question:
I work in a field that does not offer a traditional career “path”, meaning my title 10 years from now will be essentially the same regardless of my performance. Do admissions committees recognize and take into account that not all careers have an opportunity for title advancement? What are some steps I can take during these next few years to position myself more competitively in applications? Taking on more managerial roles is not necessarily viable in my scenario given that would fundamentally alter my career and business school would not be relevant at that point. Pardon my ambiguity, please feel free to ask any clarifying questions that I can answer without potentially identifying myself. Thank you!

What is the industry? It's hard to opine without some sort of clue (i.e. the answer for a schoolteacher would be much different than a scientist, etc).
Long story short - they're looking for performance vs your peers and leadership potential, amongst other attributes. Promotions are a clear signal to them. Without promotions, you'll need to find some other way to quantify success in those dimensions. A clear, direct way of measuring yourself vs your peers to help them answer the questions they'll be asking.
