Caught in a Pickle...

Alrighty guys, I just got my ACT score back today and got the score I've been waiting for for a long long time, a 33. I now have a shot at Wharton. Not a good shot but a shot non the less. However, if I apply to Wharton ED I will not be able to apply to Georgetown (my #2) EA and virtually ruin my chance of getting in. When I'm done with college I want to go into commodities trading or possibly investment banking. However, I'm wondering if it is worth the risk of applying to Wharton. I could take the safe way out and get into Gtown EA and just attend there. Or I could take the risk of applying to Wharton and if I get denied I also lose my chance at Gtown where I'm almost gaurenteed a spot. Do you guys think I should take the risk? I know Wharton has the best recruiting but I feel like Gtown also has great recruiting and I know I would enjoy Gtown much more. However, I want to land the best job out of undergrad as possible so I'm not real sure on what I can do. I want Wharton but is the risk worth it...

Holy fucking shit...didn't someone ask almost this exact question literally verbatim like 3 days or so ago (except replace Wharton with Ivies)

hahaha yes they did.

Yes, yes, We get it:

You could go to Georgetown, which would be a sure thing and probably get you a great job...OR you could try Wharton, but you may not get in and then you couldn't apply to Georgetown...ITS A GAMBLE...I GET IT!!

(Seinfeld reference for those of you who didn't catch on)

Kid, you're so young. I hate seeing high school seniors on here posting about banking. 5 years from now the game could be so much different you won't want to get in. But you're young and naive, so what the hell...

Georgetown does have a presence on the Street, but clearly not as good as Wharton. We don't know your GPA, class rank, how good your essay is, etc. All these factors play a role too...

If you think you're a shoo-in at GTown then I'd apply to Wharton because you must be a strong student. You'll never have the chance to get into Wharton again.

There are plenty of other options beside GTown that will give you a similar experience, and a better chance at IB. UVA, NYU, Cornell, Emory to name a few. Even fuckin Baruch as a safety school gives you a shot.

You could even get into GTown as a regular applicant, you never know.

Enjoy college, you'll never get those years back.

you should be on collegeconfidential. please HS students- post on college forums. People here enjoy reading and answering questions on wall street, wall street jobs and wall street recruiting.

Lol, I'm at collegeconfidential way way to much. The kids on there are arrogant cocky bastards that post on chance threads to make themselves feel bettter about their shitty lives. The only reason I'm a shoo-in at Gtown is because of the highschool I attend. It is not like I'm that good at school and stuff that I'm a shoo-in... it's my highschool. Also, do you guys think that UNC has any presence on wall street?

I for some reason have a large interest in commodities trading. One of my friend's brother does commodities trading and travels all over the world. I feel like this would be the perfect fit for me. I love traveling to forgein countries and the hours are not as intense as at Ibanking.

Duke does well and if you can get into UNC outta state you can get into Duke more than likely
