Colgate vs Lehigh vs University of Miami (Undergrad)
Hey everyone, so I currently have these 3 options for my undergrad. My goal is to go into consulting after graduation. I plan on majoring in computer science and double majoring or minoring in finance/economics (no finance at colgate). Also wanted to add that I am a Benton scholar at Colgate.
Is there a clear choice here or would all schools provide similar opportunities?
In terms of cost, Lehigh and Colgate are roughly 70k a year while Miami is 50k.

I currently go to UM and was debating between Lehigh as well. Personally, I chose UM because of cost. UM is going to give you options to intern during the school year which the others will not. However, UM is not a target school and the business program is better at Lehigh.
Colgate will be much more liberal arts focused and not give you a traditional undergraduate business experience like the other two. Personally I would choose Lehigh over Colgate. Then it is up to you with Lehigh or UM.
Social life UM is very crazy and very expensive. Lehigh is revolved around greek life. Either school you will have fun just depends on the environment you want to go to school in: city or rural.

Yeah so I actually have ruled out Colgate (seems to place well on wall street, but I am not interested in banking nor did I really enjoy my visit) and am picking between Lehigh and Miami. Do you happen to know about the quality of the computer science program at Miami? Also how are the job opportunities coming out of Miami?
I do not know about the CS program. I would say though that if you are someone who is very driven choose Miami over Lehigh. You have the opportunity to intern in miami if you make all your classes on Tues/Thurs regardless of your major. Many of my friends do this, but you have to be very proactive to get these internships. The CS program in general is probably stronger at Lehigh, but more opportunities to intern will be present at Miami. Also it is very easy to intern in Miami over the summer as a UM student. I hope this helps you make your decision.
Go to Colgate. Best combination of fun and putting people on wall street. If you look across the industry you will find a high ranking colgate alum at almost every bank, hf, or asset manager
Colgate places the best of the three on the street, but in terms of prestige, all three are close enough that you should really choose which school you think you'd enjoy the most.
This is absolutely crazy.
Colgate is a top school that will give you a worldview of a lifetime. And you don't need to enter consulting or banking like above mentioned, but you might prefer not to waste time in school with subpar teachers when they all go to top colleges for research $$$ and beg for a job coming crunch time.
Side note, the costs look fucking crazy, every one of these. You're buying or borrowing? You have no better options at all after getting Colgate?!
Yeah the price is crazy for a private college now and these are really the best options I have. Well I could go to Florida State for practically free, but I feel that these schools are significantly better. So you think that Colgate is far and away the clear choice?
It just seems like you should get some very decent places with half scholarship but you don't have it on the table. Idk. You can either take a chance and do super at FSU and transfer, or take the sure bet at this outrageous sticker
Colgate absolutely is better but I just find it nuts for the price
