Corporate Finance vs Data Science

Hey guys, I'm finishing my bachelor in finance at a target European university and have to make a decision regarding which masters’ degree I will pursue next year.

I got accepted at IE Madrid in Data Science (1 year program) as well as at HEC Lausanne in Corporate Finance (2 years program). As you can see those are two very different programs.

A little bit about me: I interned last year at a swiss bank on their trading floor. I have some programming experience in VBA and intermediate skills in R and Python.

I ultimately would like to work at a Venture Capital firm and beforehand do some M&A or consulting depending on which masters I chose next year.

Will a masters in data science allow me to work in M&A or VC after graduation or should I take the safer route and do a 2 years MSc in Finance at HEC Lausanne.

To be more precise, do you guys think that down the line data science will be as prevalent in M&A as it is currently in S&T or would it be a safer bet to go into consulting?

Looking forward to reading your responses!
