Durham, Notts or Bristol

Hello, so I'm guessing that by the title, you guys already know what I am going to ask, but before here is some context. I was admitted to econ at Notts, econ and fin at Bristol and fin at Durham. I know all of these Uni's are pretty much equal since they're all semis, and I was leaning a bit more towards Durham since I found a discussion that spoke quite highly of that particular program. However reading more and more about these three I've been getting some mixed messages while some guys say that notts is the best some would argue that bristol is better because of the city and location and other will say that Durham society are superior. So I just wanted to get your input on this by creating this discussion.

Ps. I dont really care abt the culture of the Uni or the people or the location, since I am very adaptable.

Thanks alot,

hopefully your futur coworker in IB.

Thanks, it seems to be that Durham is the favorite. However, I am afraid that is mostly because of their econ and stem programs not necessarily their finance program. So is it good too for FO BB IB or do banks in the UK just don't care about your program.

yeah I saw the same kind of comments on other posts but my main concern with Nottingham and Durham is that their rankings on like QS and Shanghai ranking is kind of low and all 3 are probably not that well know outside the UK or Europe

You're right, they're not the best universities internationally because of their research or whatever metric they use. But they are universities which send a lot of students into IB in the UK. If your only concern is getting into IB, this shouldn't matter, but if you want a higher quality education and mental stimuli overall, there are better universities to consider.

Durham places best but really worth thinking a bit about other factors - your uni experience at Durham would be completely different to that at Bristol and each suits different types of people

You’re picking somewhere you’re going to spend years of your life at a very formative stage. There is a significant chance that your time at uni is longer than your time in banking - remember there are more important things in life

Thanks alot. But no need to worry I moved alot as kid i'm super adaptable and from what I read Bristol and Durham got the same kind "vibe". Also what do you mean by spending more time in uni than banking I though that generally exit op came in after like 5 or 6 yrs.

I went Bristol and the vibes are completely different. Durham as a city is pretty dead so the social scene is pretty dull compared to Bristol (esp considering Bristol is arguably the second biggest party uni after Leeds). For IB placement Durham edges out Bristol but the difference is immiscible since with a strong enough profile you should be placing with both (same reason I picked Bristol over UCL as I was confident I could get internships at both and would much rather prefer an enjoyable uni experience)
