Emory or Boston College

I’m a high school senior who’s got into both Emory and Boston College. I’m planning to go into IB and  know they’re both semi targets. However, looking into it I’ve heard a lot of noise about them both. So while it might be splitting hairs, which is better for investment banking recruiting (specifically in NYC) and is there even a significant difference between the two?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, Emory has a stronger reputation for investment banking recruiting, particularly in the South, but it also places graduates in NYC and other major financial hubs. Emory has restructured its curriculum to focus more on high-finance roles like IB, PE, and HF, and it is considered one of the top programs in the South for these fields. Additionally, Emory's alumni network and placement rates in IB roles are highly regarded.

Boston College, while also a semi-target, has a solid reputation for finance and IB recruiting, especially in the Northeast. However, it may not have the same level of focus or placement strength in high-finance roles as Emory.

If your goal is NYC IB, both schools can get you there, but Emory might give you a slight edge due to its curriculum and placement focus. That said, the difference isn't massive, and your success will ultimately depend on your networking, internships, and performance during recruiting.

Can’t speak much for BC, but I go to Emory and was successful in recruiting. I think Emory’s brand is overall pretty strong and kids place well every year. I’d say Emory isn’t going to hold you back going anywhere so long as you put the effort in and grind. If you want more info feel free to PM me
