Engineering to Finance?
Hello everyone,
I'm here looking for guidance mostly. I am currently 22 years old, turning 23 next week. I graduated in May 2018 with a degree in Biomedical Engineering from a top state school in New York (Binghamton). I finished up Summa Cum Laude honors with a 3.9+ GPA overall within the top of my class. Upon graduation, I had plans to go to medical school, and for the past year or so I have been working with 2 orthopedic surgeons doing clinical research, engineering work at a medical device company, and studying for my MCAT.
Anyway, after going through all of this, I still remain extremely interested in a financial career. I have been trading stocks since I was in high school, and was always interested in making it a career. As someone who thoroughly enjoys math and solving complex quantitative problems, I just don't know if medicine is the way to go for me anymore.
Now that you know my background, how can someone in my position break into a career in finance? Should I pursue a masters degree in finance/quantitative analysis/financial engineering or something of the sort? I currently don't have any debt (parents paid), but I would have to pay for a masters degree myself.
What I want to do is pursue some sort of career in finance which i can use math for risk management, modeling, researching companies, predicting the market, etc.
Thanks in advance for your help.
