Engineering w/MBA vs economics/finance into IB?

I am a junior in a college prep high school and I’m looking for college and career advice. I like STEM because of the physics, construction, and everything I will learn in college. Mechanical and aerospace engineering are interesting to me, however I’ve recently learnt about IB and the salary is extremely appealing and learning about financial management, project management, and business is also very interesting. I care a lot about money, I’ve experienced poverty and want to provide for my family and afford a lifestyle without worrying about prices anymore. I would like to know what the quickest but also safest way is to a high salary and management or executive roles, (how much hard work it requires doesn’t matter, I’m used to it).

Is it better to be an engineer and get a MBA after 3-5 years of experience (or a masters and bachelors program at the same time for undergrad) and go into management, S&T, consulting, etc… or get a bachelors in Economics/Finance and then go into IB, VC, etc? My GPA is 3.7 but my scores are not competitive in comparison to the ivy ones. I’m worried that the engineering > MBA route will take lots of years of experience to give me a very high salary.

P.S: I am first gen and a woman, so that could change or limit the end results. I would appreciate if anyone shared advice regarding these careers or if you think there’s another route to wealth better suited for me.
