European Masters in Management to FT IB or Strategy Consulting
I am an American from a top 30 non-target undergrad considering a European MiM after a two-year stint in the Peace Corps with the goal of breaking into either IB or strategy consulting (leaning towards consulting). I've poured through these forums, but I've been unable to get a straight answer regarding employment prospects for Americans out of a top European MiM (LBS, LSE, HEC, Bocconi...etc)
London seems to be the destination of choice for Americans considering Europe, and its also top of my list, but I would really be open to anywhere, and by anywhere I mean outside of Europe too (from returning to America to working in Dubai). By the time I'm out of the PC I should be fluent in either Spanish or Arabic depending on my final placement if that makes any difference.
Biggest question: How hard is it for Americans to get a Visa to work in the UK? I have read many conflicting stories, including that it may be easier for current-UK students to get one. I am currently leaning towards a two-year program, so I'd have the chance for an internship (or two in the case of HEC's gap year). Is the student visa advantage worth forgoing a summer internship for a one-year program at LBS or LSE? As of now, my only internship is corporate Strategy and Insights at a foreign grocery store chain (20ish billion in revenue, Fortune 150 Global parent company)
Is it true that London BB's are more likely to give out visas than consulting firms? Do foreigners even have a shot at MBB, or are options limited to Tier 2 firms?
How about transferring back to the U.S.? Has anyone heard of MiM graduates receiving offers in banking or consulting back in the states? Are there any opportunities in Dublin? I have heard Dubai offices were hiring a lot of consultants a while back, but that they have since slowed down. Is Dubai a viable option?
Hi randomconsultingguy, check out these resources:
Hope that helps.

For what it's worth, all I know is European Business Schools absolutely love applicants who are holders of a U.S. Passport. Play your cards well.
