European undergraduate Targets for Consulting
Hi Guys,
I was really wondering about the undergraduate target schools for Consulting in Europe and couldn’t really find something here at wso. Below is my current list for undergraduate targets. Do you mostly agree with it or are there any adjustments to be made etc? …
S*-Tier:
Oxford
Cambridge
LSE
Bocconi
Imperial
S-Tier:
Whu
Mannheim
UCL
Kings
St Gallen
Essec
ESCP
Esade
IE
RSM
A-Tier:
Edhec
Emlyon
Frankfurt School
Bayes(Cass)
CBS
Nova
Eada
Wu Wien
If I forgot anything or you disagree with a school, please comment as I think such a list would be very helpful!
Thanks!
Rankings like these do not make sense, just google the top schools in each country. Recruiting is done at a national level. Kings and UCL are not targets in the UK, EDHEC and EMLYON are also not targets in France. And if you try going abroad they won't give you any brand advantage, the only ones would be Oxbridge LSE and Imperial.
Here is my list, which is pretty accurate for business programs and engineering schools which are the main feeders, except in the UK where course does not matter

Okay Thank you! Do you consider Esade undergraduate above ie ?
My impression was ESADE was better for undergrad and IE was more of a grad school, but I could be wrong. IE is a good school, but felt it was a bit below the others listed in Spain.
None sense ranking. French bachelor in business are shit and most UK unis don't offer bachelor's in business administration so... not Imperial, UCL or LBS....
Just pick the best of each country and you will be fine.
I have hear that the French Bachelors don’t really have a good reputation. May I ask why ? I know that it is not possible to do a bba in UK, but why does that matter for the ranking ?
France has the prepa and the grande école (integrated master). They started to do bachelor degrees to copy the english system but they are way behind and is not really respected by prepa students (so you will be downgraded whatever grades you get)...
Warwick and LSE have good bachelors in business administration :)
Hope it helps!
U.K. targets across all firms are Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, and LSE. Some firms fully target UCL (not BCG or Bain though), and most have some recruiting (think semi target) at a smattering of Warwick, Durham, Edinburgh, Bristol, Bath, KCL, and one or two others for each firm.
Okay, thank you!
I would decide where you ultimately want to live/work before choosing where you want to study. Each geography will have its own list of target schools and in general consulting has a greater home bias than finance.
For example, in London MBB/T2 targets would be oxbridge, LSE, Imperial, LBS with top European schools like HEC or Bocconi semi target at best
Okay, I will consider that, thank you! Ultimately I want to work I’m the US but the top us schools are just very very hard to get in as an international student + They are unfortunately unaffordable for me. I thought about doing my masters there.
ICADE is the greatest target in Spain alongside ESADE. Very surprised about the fact that it is not included at least at par with ESADE and way above IE
I didn’t see ICADE in any ranking + linkedin stats of ie and esade are definitely better. But 🤷🏼♂️
Try and look up 'Universidad Pontificia Comillas ICAI-ICADE' instead of just ICADE, MBB offices in Madrid are full of people from there!
