FT Offer after University
Hey,
I have another question, maybe someone is familiar with this or even works in a large / bigger PE. I wanted to ask to what extent the big companies also distribute FT offers directly after an internship after university / Master's / Bachelor's?
Or is the right path actually 2-3 years in IB and then switching, and there are just a few exceptions who have managed to get in straight after university?
Many thanks in advance!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, the typical path to a full-time offer in Private Equity (PE) usually involves spending 2-3 years in Investment Banking (IB) before making the switch. Here are some key points:
Standard Path: Most people follow the path of 2 years in IB, then 2 years in PE, followed by an MBA, and then potentially returning to PE. This is a well-trodden route that many professionals take to build their credentials and experience.
Exceptions: While it is less common, there are exceptions where individuals manage to secure a full-time offer in PE directly after university. However, these cases are rare and typically involve candidates with exceptional qualifications or connections.
Career Longevity: The rationale behind spending time in IB first is that it provides a strong foundation and brand names on your resume, which can be beneficial for the long-term career span of 40-50 years.
Flexibility and Options: Starting in IB and then moving to PE keeps many options open and can propel you into senior roles later in your career.
In summary, while the standard path involves starting in IB, there are a few exceptional cases where individuals go directly into PE after university. However, this is not the norm and usually requires outstanding credentials.
