Geographic Diversity in MBA Admissions?

Analogous to how there is geographic diversity in college admissions, I was curious if similar logic applied to MBA (on the state level vs. country level). I looked up posts etc., but could not find clear data.

Thanks!

Every school loves "diversity" and has a quota to fill. The logic is very similar to college admissions. But I believe the demographics of who is applying to an MBA vs. college is a little different. For example, I think Indians in IT are by far the biggest demographic for top MBA programs. That makes admission a bit more difficult in that bucket. Similarly, white males in finance is also a competitive demographic.

Wasn't sure whether you mean, does coming from overseas add value to your candidacy? If so, the answer is OH YES, especially if you have had a lot of experience working on international teams.

If that is your question, then it is definitely interesting to the class if you've had global exposure, and I can go on and on about that. It's tremendously value-added to have people in the class that come from different countries, nationalities, world-views, and economic systems. The guy from Australia has a very different perspective on, say, natural resources and how to manage them, for example, than someone from Spain. Or the woman from Argentina offers interesting insights on working in an inflationary environment. It's what makes the discussion great.

As for state-by-state, who grew up in Alaska might be more interesting, if all things were equal, since that state is still kind of like pioneer territory. But if you are asking about someone maybe coming from, say Wisconsin as opposed to New York -- not sure it makes that big a difference.
