Go back to school to re-recruit or continue trying to pivot from current role?

I’m currently a SWE at an MM HF (Citadel/Millennium/P72/BAM), about 2 years out of undergrad. I graduated from a T10 school with a double degree in Math + CS, but a 3.5 GPA. I've been trying to pivot to a more front-office trading or quant role but with the demands of my current job, I just haven’t had the time to properly study for the switch.

I’m wondering if going back to school might be a better to re-recruit into these roles. How badly does my GPA hurt my chances at a top programme? Would a degree from a top programme even help with pivoting?

Most of all, I feel like I have the network to break in, but I just need some time and bandwidth to study and I think going to school would be great for that.
