Same here. Per Dee Leopold's blog, very few invites will go out in "wave 2" on Feb 6th ~100 went out in second set of Round 1, 800 in the first set.

I didn't get an invite either. However, I think it had to do with poor app execution on my part: submitted few minutes late, forgot to fill up the extra curricular and honours and recognition forms - largely due to some extenuating circumstances. Anyway, is there any rationale behind who gets an interview invite in the second wave (as opposed to the first wave)? Also, are there are any systematic differences between people who are invited by Stanford as opposed to HBS? Thanks ...

Me neither. I did apply earlier, around Jan 1st or so, all my files should be ok. Any idea if there is a different send-out date for Joint Degree Applicants (MBA/MPP)? Thanks :)

kingfalconNothing for me, but I had just gotten into Sloan the day before, so I'm still a happy camper! :)

Congrats! I couldn't get my shit together in time for MIT's deadline. Why do they only have 2 rounds anyway?

Hello, I got an invite for HBS round 2. Couldn't believe it when I got the email :-) I'm traveling to campus for the interview (I'm from Egypt), so I really hope the trip proves worthwhile. Some advice: HBS LOVES re-applicants. Several of my friends were rejected from HBS without an interview but applied the next year and got in quite comfortably...so, if you're not set on doing an MBA this fall in particular, my advice is: reapply.

VanillaGorillaMost of what I've researched online would lead me to believe HBS is considered unfriendly to reapplicants.
From the examples I've seen, I don't think that's true. They love a person who can tell them "I waited an extra year because I want YOU". Adds that extra "inspirational" touch

Not sure how that's inspirational. More like selective.

VanillaGorillaWho doesn't want a Harvard MBA?
You have a point. Everyone wants a Harvard MBA.

But not a lot of people are willing to bank it all on Harvard - twice. Plus, what I mean by "what you want" isn't that you want a Harvard MBA. I'm talking about what you want OUT of the Harvard MBA, and the conviction that only Harvard can give you that, and not any other school. If you can get the adcom to see that, you're in.

In any case, I'm all ears if you have unquestionable statistics that HBS isn't friendly to re-applicants. All I'm saying is that from my personal experience, they're friendly. I know 4 people who reapplied to HBS a year after they were dinged without an interview. They all got interviews and 3 got in.

I'm not trying to convince you dude :-) I'm just saying how things look from my perspective, based on observation.

I was rejected from HBS, without an interview, twice... Not quite sure your statement holds true. When you're HBS, you don't need to be convinced that you're someone's top choice. That said, the whole admissions process is a mystical black-box so who really knows what they like and don't like...

Agreed. But, apparently they like Egyptian reapplicants...

bombol, as far as "unquestionable statistics" go for acceptance rates for reapplicants, I've never seen any numbers. I could just as easily argue the same point against you.

I guess you're right. We're going nowhere without solid numbers. Anyway, good luck with the rest of the apps :-) And wish me luck in the interview. I have my fingers crossed...

Sincerely, good luck. Wish I had an invite. And welcome to WSO. Lots of helpful info on here if you can sift the gold nuggets from the dirt.

By any chance did your friends apply in 2010, and then reapply in 2011...?

P.S. - Good luck with the interviews!

No, but I think I know what you're referring to :-D My friends applied in 2011 and reapplied in 2012. That weird thing that happened in 2011's class split was unbelievable...but I think they promptly learned from their mistakes
