HF to B-school
Currently an investment analyst at a HF.
Perhaps realising too late that a public markets route isn't for me, but 3 years of S&T/HF has had me considering for MBAs, with the goal of going into consulting, corporate strategy, eventually management etc.
Interestingly this seems to be a very minimally discussed transition. I realise many people would have considered giving their left nut/tit or even boff’um to go the other direction.
But to give more colour on my background as my motives, S&T was a semi-major CN brokerage in Asia (think CICC, ICBC, BOC, CITIC, CLSA), and HF is a semi-no-name that’s just treading water. I don’t see a route to a significant fund from here. Exiting MBA to other HFs I’d also be open to but perhaps lower on my priorities.
I’d value almost any perspective here, whether I should do it, what my chances are and even better if someone's done this in either direction.

I know someone who was at a HF, did MBA and then worked in IB and now corp dev, its a possible transition and has been done before.
Have also seen HF -> HBS -> MF too
big part of the jump will be networking
Not on topic, but why do you feel the public markets are not for you?
