High School On Resume

I am going out for investment banking recruiting and want to make sure my resume is up to snuff.

I'm a rising sophomore and I know that it is standard to take any high school activities off of your resume by the time you are a sophomore, which I've done.

Do I also need to take my actual high school off of the education section? As of now its served as a way to mention all the activities/awards/test scores I had from high school while taking up relatively little space.

I'd like to keep it but I don't know what the industry norm is for investment banking. Should I take off my high school entirely?

I've seen high schools included even into early career when it's a prestigious or really good high school.

However, if you just went to an average Joe Blow public school or run of the mill private school, I would not include it for early career post college. but I would think for undergrad where you just need to fill up space, it's ok.

Good to know. It's very helpful to get insight from people actually in the industry. I really appreciate it.

I mean for undergrad. I think that you're still ok to leave it on. I would just take it off after your first real job.

At this stage, maybe it gives some info to the interviewer about where you grew up for example. Could potentially strike up a conversation.

Right, that makes sense. I just took it off and was somewhat struggling to fill the rest, so it’s good to know it’s not a total faux pas in IB to leave it. I have another internship coming up this fall, so maybe after that I’ll take it off, but I’ll leave it for now.

I’m also mostly focused on recruitment for SF/Bay Area and went to high school in the Bay, so I could see it coming up like you mentioned.

Appreciate you helping me out.
