How good in Masters in Finance from UIUC?

Question

My application for Masters in Finance has been accepted by UIUC. I am an international student from India and already have about 7 years of experience working for private equity clients and last 2-3 years working as a offshore support for a sell-side analyst. I am kinda worried about my future prospects and if it is actually worth it as the tuition fees is on the higher end at ~$60,000. I would love some input regarding this decision.

Slightly. End of the day if you have 7 years experience you should do an MBA. Maybe a computational masters would help. But a traditional MSF will not be of much help.

If you get into Princeton or MITs program you should have also gotten into top MBA programs. Columbia might be different.

You do these regional MBA programs because your local or want to work in that area. You do one of these specialized masters because you want to break into finance (those with no experience).

The Princeton program is a MBA substitute type program. MIT is really for people with less experience. Columbia is a mixture.

Last question, because this is relevant to me and a lot of others  who lack the profile for a t15 MBA.

So if someone had 7 years experience and the choice was between say Emory's MBA or that degree the OP posted or a MS/MSC from Columbia/Princeton/MIT etc, then how would you  order those options.

I'm beginning to think after reading your old posts that from a networking perspective a CFA may be better than a tier 2 MBA, especially for Asset Management - realise I may be stating the obvious here, lol.

1) this is a thread asking about the UIUC MSF.

2) MBA students "exit" into banking, the same jobs MSF students go for, albeit at a different level.

3) Princeton MFin's get jobs that mbas get

4) MIT places at analyst levels only because of limited work experience. If someone had previous work experience and did the program they could come in as an associate. Shit, I've know people from the nova program to place as associates in a variety of banking roles because of previous work experience.
