How is Drexel's business school for undergrad?

I am currently looking to transfer to a business school in the Philadelphia area and was wondering if I could get some opinions on the following schools: Drexel's LeBow College of Business and Temple's Fox School of Business. How do they compare in terms of prestige and reputation? Are there any other notable business schools in the Philly area (other than Wharton of course)? And finally, would it be possible to get a position at a top firm with a degree in finance from one of these schools, or would my best bet be trying to get into a top MBA program?

Thank you very much in advance for any replies.

GS had a resume drop at LeBow for IB and other SA programs during the fall. However, I don't know how many they interviewed or if any received offers. Also, NO investment banks recruit there (other than GS resume drop). Prestige wise Drexel is low but higher then Temple. Had one MD at a boutique MM say that he'd take a Drexel grad over a UPenn grad any day... never thought I'd hear that and he wasn't a Drexel alum.

Drexels undergrad and grad school are not ranked. The MD from the MM clearly did not get into wharton for an MBA or undergrad. Drexel is also located in a nasty spot and is ranked as one of the ugliest campuses in the country. Don;t go to drexel or temple. Quite frankly its a waste of time and money. Try a top 25 school.

I believe undergrad is ranked in entrepreneurship but nothing else. Drexel is located in one of the safest parts in the city and is across the street from Penn. Campus isn't that bad at all when it comes to looks. I wouldn't recommend going to either if your goal is to get into IB.

No. Temple is a state school for poor kids. Drexel is respected as an engineering school.

Drexel commands a degree of respect in Philly, but I don't know if people have even heard of it anywhere else.

Coming out of schools like that, you can land a solid job and get into a good B-School 4 years later (My plan) but you can forget anything big time.

No point in transfering there. Look elsewhere.

The only thing between Wharton and D/T in Philly is Villanova. However, They are in the Philly burbs and I don't know what kind of presence they have on Wall STreet.

FuturaAcross the street from Wharton --> get no attention

maybe you can sneak in to one of their career fairs/company presentations.

The world has changed. And we must change with it.

------------ I'm making it up as I go along.

Go to Villanova. Don't know why anyone would pay private school rates to go to Drexel. V is at least ranked #1 Masters college in the Northeast and probably the US if they ranked them nationally.

Go to Georgetown undergrad business school. it's pretty easy to get into (at least when I applied back in the day) and gets good recruiting.

Thank you all for the input; it is appreciated greatly.

Another quick question: Which college ranking lists are the most reputable/accurate?

USNWR probably, but specific rankings don't really matter too much

Here's my breakdown when reviewing a resume: Target Non-target Ivy Non-target Top Tier Liberal Arts doesn't do it justice, it's specific liberal arts schools that I'm looking for (typically east coast ones with finance alumni) Other non-targets (in this category, you really need to be special)

Within a category, it really doesn't matter much where you fall. If you are looking to transfer (and can't get into a target), then choose a school that has more than a few alumni in the field you are looking to get into.

I do have a success story from Drexel. There is this one kid who I know did Merill Lynch PWM his sophomore internship and now is doing IB at Goldman Sachs in San Fran during his junior year. He is not brilliant but he works hard and has a very solid gpa. If you get a stellar GPA at Drexel, I think you will still have a decent shot at the desirable positions we all want.

JuwannaMannYour user name is "smoke a blunt" and you're a student at Drexel. Might want to broaden your job search beyond Wall Street.

Thanks to all, BTW I went to columbia and am already well established,,info was for a kid being mentored. Nothing wrong with blunts, I regularly smoke with the so called very successful 'MD's who u whack off to.

Drexel? No, don't bother trying. It's a good school for people who want to work as engineers or on the business side in local, Philadelphia and eastern Pa. companies, but not Wall Street or finance outside Drexel's local area. The school has come a long way in the last 10 years, but not that far.

I went there. Definitely not a target school, although it has improved a lot recently. I think the business school is ranked around 50 in the U.S. now. Not sure how much faith I would put in ranking for schools near the middle of the pack though. Ex. Nova is typically ranked top 15 and I can say it's probably below Drexel in terms of difficulty.

FWIW, a few BBs have begun recruiting there.

The typo is understandable, given the proximity of the 0 key to the 4 key. My jealousy is also understandable, given that I'm partial to idiots with IQs lower than my GPA.

720? I scored higher than that... while controlling the mouse with my forehead.

Trade4size, you win that biggest loser award yet? You're sure to get it, you "shoe-in", you.

b2 you get laid yet? Nuff said.
