How much does pre-MBA background matter for IB recruiting at the MBA level?
Incoming MBA candidate at a Midwest M7 target school interested in pivoting to IB. My prior work experience has been in the nonprofit sector with very limited exposure to finance. I know conventional wisdom is that IB/consulting is background agnostic at the MBA level, but is that still true in 2026?
I'm an international student fwiw, but have lived/worked in North America for a decade, so language/cultural norms wouldn't be a barrier.
