HSG or Bocconi?

I have been accepted to the GIO program at Bocconi, unfortunately without a merit-based scholarship. My academic interests are primarily in public economics, political economy, and institutions.

At the same time, I am considering applying to the MEcon program at the University of St. Gallen (HSG).

In the future, I can see myself working in international organizations or EU institutions, and I am already politically active in my home country (Czechia).

My main concern is the cost of studying at Bocconi, which is substantial. Given that both programs are non-target, I am uncertain whether Bocconi represents value for money in my case. In contrast, the MEcon program would allow me to specialize in public economics later in the program, potentially with lower financial pressure.

I am genuinely undecided and would appreciate an objective assessment of the trade-offs between these two options, particularly in terms of academic focus, career signaling, and cost-effectiveness.

Or maybe, should i consider other schools? Amsterodam, Rotterdam...
