I went into PE straight out of undergrad and now an A2. Is there any reason for me to every get an MBA?

I love PE and can definitely see myself staying here for a while. I don't know if I'll spend my career in PE though. Would getting an MBA make sense for me in any circumstance? I could see myself maybe wanting to pursue a strategic role or taking the entrepreneurial route someday but honestly not sure.

If you have the money sitting around for an MBA… then yes. Assuming your going to an M7, it could help you meet people who may help you down the line and also have a prestigious masters degree. Also, just going back to college and being in that type of atmosphere again is definitely something that could relieve some of the stress and painful hours your probably working in.

If you’ve done 2 years as an analyst + 2 years as an associate at the same PE shop and can convince them to let you do the MBA with potential to come back given that you haven’t had other career experiences, I would recommend it. Overall it’ll be a nice break / change of pace, will build your network (beneficial both for staying in PE + if you decide to do something else), and the cost is really not material in the long run if you’re going to stick it out in PE
