I'm Miserable at my Target School and Can't Get Out

Being at this school has honestly made my life go from 100 to 0 within a year. I went from a 4.0 and 1590 SAT in high school to now not even having above a 3.4. I've been pushed to a state of nigh-suicide multiple times and have tackled with being absolutely miserable here for most of the term. I don't vibe with the community here, I despise the academic environment, and I just want to GET OUT, but no target school or semi-target took me because of my low GPA. I got rejected by every transfer I applied to. What do I do? I feel like I just can't be successful here no matter what I try.

It's hard but I think you might need to accept that you can't leave. Then you need to re-focus your life and only do what is necessary for your career. And spend all the rest of your time trying to find new friends. Join random interest clubs, be more social, and just put as much time as you can towards it.

I don't know what reasons exactly point to you not enjoying it. But no matter what school it is and what their community is supposed to be like, there are people you would like EVERYWHERE. There might just be 10 people or even 5, but you can and will find them if you put in the work. It's annoying to hear and it sounds like it's recruiting for a club or something like that, but you just have to accept it. Put yourself in more situations, even ones where you don't expect to find friends. Say yes to every night out or lunch. Maybe you'll find a girl and you'll both fall in love and that'll be what saves you. All it takes are 2-3 people you like being around and if you didn't find that in your first year, it is not a problem. From what I've heard, a lot of people have drastic changes in friends from 1st to 2nd year, so it is not a problem.

As for GPA, I think being happier in general after finding friends will help with that and your focus. But you need to get your stuff together because obviously you were smart enough to get there, so you are smart enough to do good. Just re-prioritize and see what happens in the next 6-7 months.
