Imperial College Msc F&A vs LSE Msc A&F
Hello everyone,
I have recently received offers from several Master’s programs and would really appreciate your insights to help me make a decision.
For context, I graduated from a top-2 BBA in France, and I have completed internships in Investment Solutions at a French bank and in M&A at a bulge bracket in Paris.
Here is my dilemma:
While LSE generally appears more competitive and prestigious than Imperial, I noticed that the admission rate for Imperial’s MSc Finance & Accounting seems significantly lower than for LSE’s MSc Accounting & Finance.
This raises a question for me:
Is the LSE MSc Accounting & Finance perceived differently (or less strongly) by the job market compared to other LSE finance programs?
More broadly, which option would you choose given a target career in Investment Banking / Private Equity in Europe?
Thank you very much in advance for your help
Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you need to know:
LSE MSc Accounting & Finance:
Imperial MSc Finance & Accounting:
Key Considerations for Your Decision:
Recommendation:
Given your strong background (top-2 BBA in France and internships in Investment Solutions and M&A), both programs will position you well for Investment Banking or Private Equity roles. However, if your primary goal is to maximize opportunities in London and Europe, LSE's MSc Accounting & Finance might be the better choice due to its stronger local reputation and brand recognition. If you prioritize a more practical, skill-based approach, Imperial could be a compelling alternative.

LSE>Imperial in finance masters. LSE is tier 1 imperial is not. (except for STEM obviously)
So go with LSE.
Now you have to know that the LSE Msc ACC & Fin is less regarded than the Mfin. It is the case for every school, every accounting & finance are less selective and will open less doors than the flagship.
Hard to rank LSE's masters but I would say for IB you are looking at LSEMfin=LSE Mfin&PE>LSE Mfin&Eco>LSE Acc&Fin
But I mean LSE goes through the screenings either way so it is Acc&Fin is still a good choice, especially if you have no financial pressure. If you do though you might reconsider given the market, the competition and the fact that you will not be a diversity hire. I will be honest, your xp in a BB is already as strong as a platform than the Acc&Fin.
But you will meet great people and have more time to prepare and start career in London. Good luck!
MATE THIS WAS EXPLAINED 1000 TIMES
LSE is way above Imperial.
Imperial is a STEM School (in no way a business school). No point talking about this over and over again. Also, take into account this program A&F is second tier to the Master in Finance. Very important to note the difference in selection and prestige ;)
Its just you who keeps blabbing in every thread like a moron..
If you care so much about prestige why did you go to a low tier school like RSM ;)
I believe this is the same poster twice
