In a MA-Econ program......now what

So I just started an MA-Economics program at the same school as my UG, a large state school. I would like to work in finance either in San Francisco, the surrounding area, or where my family is in Reno, Nevada. I have been given the option of taking my electives with the MSF program kids, so I will effectively have a Masters in Financial Economics (no financial engineering courses). With advanced econometrics courses under my belt, what do I do to break into finance? Would it be beneficial to pass part one of the CFA? Or should I just go do some business analyst gig somewhere after graduating and try to get into a Top MBA with more WE under my belt. Not entirely sure what to do from here.....please halp! tyia monkeys and monkeys in training.
