In the long run, does it really matter what M7 you attended?
I was having a discussion about bschool with my boss who went to HBS. He graduated almost 15 years ago and supports going to bschool and said any of the M7 are fine. He still has pride for his school, handles some recruiting at HBS but doesn't go to the HBS networking events anymore and is more focused on family. I've been H/S or bust and I want to reexamine this all or none attitude. I can't help but think this is a decision that will follow you around for the rest of your life but maybe I care too much about it and no one gives a damn. So I'm thinking if I get into any M7, I'll go whether it's the top or not.

Depends on your goals. For IB/MBB/Marketing careers, the M7 are all strong.
If you want to work at a mega fund or something, HSW and maybe Booth (or CBS per the person replying to me) is more important. You also need the requisite experience pre-MBA though.
Booth is not good for MF PE, even columbia is better
Not sure what the goal is at this point. It isn't MF PE or bust right now. Could be, just prefer someplace long-term oriented and that could be PE. I'd be coming in with a banking and public equities background so not looking for IB again unless it's Rx. Just wondering if it's silly to have a H/S/W or bust mentality.
It is. Those schools are too random to guarantee admission regardless of how stellar you are. M7 or bust is a lot more reasonable. Specifically add Booth and CBS if PE is your goal. and Booth and Sloan if VC is your goal (just my opinion feel free to add commentary if you know more than me).
i would add Kellogg for PE. Better placement than either Booth or Columbia.
