Incoming freshman at Dartmouth seeking advice on IB/PE recruiting

Hi everyone!

I am an incoming freshman at Dartmouth and plan on recruiting for IB/PE down the line.

I've made a spreadsheet of every Dartmouth alum at BB/EB/MM banks, and PE funds from the classes of 2018 through 2022(incoming) and have noticed a few interesting trends.

1. Hardly anyone from 2019 to 2022 did a BB/EB off cycle internship. PJT still seems to be a regular but apart from that I could only find one person who did their spring at Citi IB. Could anyone comment on this? Have GS/MS stopped doing Dartmouth specific off cycles ?

2. Till the class of 2019, a majority of the people who got into IB/PE were plain Econ majors. From 2020, there seem to be a lot more Econ + STEM double majors. I don't wanna fill my entire schedule w two majors, and would prefer doing Econ modified w CS or Math (a joint major of sorts) or QSS. I wanna take a lot of interesting and useful courses that may not count towards my major. Would this place me at a disadvantage ?
What would be the ideal combination in terms of perceived value to employers per time spent ?

3. How competitive is DIPP to get into, and what's the time commitment like to do well in it ?

4. Is the Tuck bridge program worth it ?

Any other general advice regarding standing out during recruiting and academic choices would appreciated.

Thank you!

First congrats on Dartmouth! Second relax, delete your spreadsheet, and stop being such a hardo. Freshman fall become friendly with a junior who has a SA offer and get them to take you under their wing. They’ll be abet to tell you who the good profs are and what alumni you should network with.

Don’t go to Dartmouth but a couple of my friends did did tuck-bridge and found it helpful. Most were math or chem majors.

Not to be a dick, but Tuck Bridge is NOT Dartmouth, nor is it Tuck. Its just a place to burn like 13k or some shit. Not worth it.
