Is NYU Tandon a Solid School For IB/S&T

Is NYU Tandon a good school for those who can't get into Stern? I was looking at their Business and Technology Management Major which has two paths, and I would choose the Finance oriented path. Along with this, if I did a minor in Finance, how well would my chances be for landing an MM IB or S&T role? Is this better than being an Econ major from CAS since it is more technical and "hard" major compared to Econ being a "soft" major?
