Is private credit worth it for an M7 MBA?

Hi,

I just finished my first year at an M7, got an internship with a search fund investor for this summer, but I decided not to go into search, instead I want to find a job that will help round out my skillset and search part time.

I've got a lot of operations experience but want to get more deal and corporate valuation experience. I'm looking at growth equity, or maybe PE ops, but I also think PC would check all these boxes and be attainable. However, looking at people in Chicago/NYC/San Fran in PC, most early to mid career folks don't even have MBA's or especially prestigious degrees.

I don't care about prestige, but I care about interesting work, a competitive salary and a reasonable work life balance (in part so I can spend 10+ hours a week looking for a company to acquire). Given this, do people think I should look into private credit?

Also, if you think there's a field I'm missing, please let me know! I'm deep into the exploratory phase right now, because I just made the decision not to pursue ETA/search full time after graduation.

Pretty much anything is better than a search fund. It’s basically an oxymoron.
