Is Texas becoming a Target for Investment Banking?

Yes, I'm a student at Texas, so obviously biased post.

Seeing people post good offers left and right (GS/MS/JPM) every time I open LinkedIn, and the school allegedly placed ~120 in NY last year. Offers used to stem from WSFM, which is the feeder org that Texas has into NY, but placements seem to be much more irrespective of orgs this year.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, Texas, particularly UT Austin (McCombs), has been making significant strides in investment banking placements. UT Austin is considered a step above other Texas schools for placement outside of Texas, with strong representation in New York. Programs like WSFM (Wall Street for McCombs) have historically been key feeders into top firms like GS, MS, and JPM, but recent trends suggest that placements are becoming more widespread and less dependent on specific organizations.

Additionally, other Texas schools like Rice University, Texas A&M, and Southern Methodist University (SMU) also have strong placement records, especially within Texas markets like Houston and Dallas. Texas A&M, for instance, has seen substantial improvements in its finance department and programs like "Aggies on Wall Street," which boast near 100% placement rates and strong alumni connections.

Overall, Texas is increasingly becoming a target for investment banking, with growing opportunities both in New York and within Texas itself.
