Is University of Amsterdam a semi-target, or is Prometheus Capital (investment club) the pipeline?

Amsterdam in general is honestly a grind to recruit out of if you don't have something going for you. The banks are there but they're not exactly rolling out the red carpet for randoms from the university

Prometheus Capital from what I've seen seems to be one of those things that just opens doors. If it’s a good investment club then join it yeah - it’s always better

I don't know all the details of how it works but if the people coming out of it seem to land well and that's usually a good sign

Probably worth trying to get in if you can swing it, worst case you've got a network in the city which is never a bad thing

Good luck out there

If they are sending people into banks, thats where you want to be, put all the cards on your side

Semi targets / non targets sometimes have these clubs that are the only portal into the industry, I recommend you join it

I would say try prepping with any financial modeling courses / learn about the industry over the summer and see if you can join as an analyst. they seem to be doing ER mostly, so grind the basics (Business / Financials / valuation) and hopefully they have a program to help out w the learning.

Then just get your techs down while there, and start accessing that alumni pipeline / firm networks you mentioned and you should be good to intern. Its tough and coming from a semi target / non target is an uphill battle

Yooo I'm interning in Amsterdam right now at ING in Fixed Income, these guys are great haha, a few of the interns here are from that club

all of the dialed in people in NL know these guys ball, I'm from RSM but they're the only way UvA could be target ngl

yea for sure

whats most important is networking, typically they only take Msc students in Finance etc.. but if you are really good and are doing well within a society like Prometheus Capital then I guess you can break into it well.

Also really prep technicals, the UvA and RSM dont really prepare you so you have to do sum yourself like take the CFA I for example, or just crush 400 IB question guides, even courses here on WSO can be good

Least obvious Prometheus Capital ‘analyst’ selling their own shit investment club

For students reading this, just go to RSM and join B&R Beurs. No need to attend a lesser uni such as UvA and join some investment club that blatantly writes research reports with AI lol

Disclaimer: went to RSM and now doing PE

Mate these guys did another post glazing their own investment club. It's just some random society at uni. All I'm saying is you don't see people from actually good finance clubs doing this...
