Ivey Business School Grading

I was wondering for any Ivey grads or even those in the toronto finance sphere what is the importance of HBA1/2 Grades. What average is impressive? Or does none of this matter. I am looking to recruit for finance full time in my 4th year and wondering if grades will help.

Based on the WSO Dataset, Ivey Business School employs a case-based method which can be quite subjective in grading. This method tends to favor more outspoken students, potentially leading to higher grades for those who actively participate, regardless of the depth of their contributions. Grades are important, but the finance community at Ivey is very supportive, especially during recruitment periods. HBA1s and HBA2s often receive extensive help from alumni and peers, including mock interviews, which can significantly enhance your recruitment prospects.

In terms of what an impressive average might be, while the context doesn't specify exact figures, it's generally understood that maintaining a strong GPA is beneficial. However, networking and demonstrating your skills through practical experiences and interactions can be just as crucial, if not more so, in securing finance roles. Therefore, while maintaining good grades is important, focusing on building strong relationships and gaining practical experience in finance should also be a priority.
