JHU MS Applied Economics or Harvard ALM Finance?
I want to boost my quant background, for HBS application iin 2 years. 2 years (currently) work experience in bulge bracket firm in Wealth Management. Considering either JHU Masters in Applied Economics or the Masters in Finance from Harvard's School of Extension.
Undergrad gpa is not the best, and I want to boost quant background per academic transcripts; also undergrad was a non-target school. Will be interested in IB/PE transition
From HBS insiders (alum etc), and WSO community in PE, thoughts, comments, which one presents a better route?
both are "professional studies" degree and are severely looked down upon by the regular graduates. Rebranding via MS Finance or similarly quantitative discipline within a competitive business school unit would be a lot better for you to develop both skill sets and alumni grip.
you aren't getting into HBS with a background in PWM and a low gpa from a nontarget either way unless you are a URM
Harvard Extension is a great program academically and for the cost at one of the best universities in the world, it holds great value. You'll definitely build your knowledge and skillset but OCR only has 1 bank at it's career fair.
John Hopkins will be much pricier, but is a more prestigious program. You'll still be learning at a highly-ranked university but the difference is that On-Campus Recruiting will be much better.
To sum up, John Hopkins has an accredited business school. Harvard Extension School is a continuing education program.
