LSE, HEC with a CGPA of 3.33

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and I have a question. I want to apply to LSE or HEC for a master's degree in finance, but I'm not sure if I have a good chance of getting in. My cgpa is 3.33 and my major gpa is 3.59 (Economics Bachelor). I graduated this year and I'm taking a gap year right now to gain some experience. Do you think I have a decent profile for these schools? Any advice or feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey there! Based on the most helpful WSO content, both LSE and HEC are highly competitive schools and they look at a variety of factors when considering applicants. Your CGPA is a bit on the lower side, but your major GPA in Economics is quite strong, which could potentially offset your lower CGPA.

However, keep in mind that these schools also consider other factors such as GMAT scores, work experience, and extracurricular activities. If you have strong credentials in these areas, they could help bolster your application.

For instance, in the WSO threads, one user had a GMAT score in the range of 690-710 and work experience in Corporate Investment Management and Big 4 Deal Advisory. Another user had a GMAT score of 700 and was the founder of a finance-related student association.

So, while your GPA is an important component of your application, it's not the only factor that schools consider. If you can demonstrate strong skills and experiences in other areas, you could still have a shot at these programs.

Remember, every application is unique and these are just general observations. It's always a good idea to reach out to the admissions offices at these schools to get a better understanding of what they're looking for in applicants. Good luck!
