MA Politics/Business/Economics Claremont

Hey guys!

First time poster. I just wanted your opinion on the program at Claremont Drucker Management - MA in Pol/Business/Economics.

Seems a very interesting, innovative degree and was wondering whether anyone had any experience in it.

I want to get into IB, MM Banks, MBB, S&T so hoping for any insight really.

My background is Political Science major from target university and GMAT 740 and GRE 1380 AW 5. Some internship experience.

How likely am I to get a job in the area I am looking for?

Other posters will have much better insights, but I suspect it's not going to be that easy. If you're from a target and have the math background, you should consider applying to some of the top-notch MSF programs, as they have placements in the types of firms you're mentioning. Have you already tried landing those jobs without the masters?

I didnt try to land those jobs prior to a masters. I didnt think I would be too competitive especially as my school has a great record for placing business UG into IB.

I agree that it looks like a very innovative degree and would be worth it just for that reason. In fact, I considered applying to this program at CGU along with MSF/MFE programs coming out of undergrad. However, it seems to be a little more public-policy focused and it would seem unlikely to attract top finance recruiters (I could be wrong though).

You're probably better off applying to a top-10 MBA program, especially with that killer gmat score of yours. As a compromise, you might try more policy-focused MBAs or dual MBA/MPP programs.

I really like the flexibility this program gives. I dont think its too policy focused, just enough lol. Like I said, I think the program will give me a ton of options. IB is a dream but MBB is fantastic too!

FinancialNoviceIINever heard of the program. Ought to market a bit better. Whats their placements like?

Not too sure, their website is kinda vague! But I would imagine they place well, Claremont is a great namebrand

FinancialNoviceIISee there's the thing, I have heard Claremont is lagging behind UCLA and San Diego in terms of brandname..Correct me if I'm wrong!

CGU may be another story, but Claremont's undergrad is generally considered to be the "best college you've never heard of". While you might make the argument that UCLA may be a better option for some, I wouldn't say the same for San Diego in most cases.

And Irvine > Claremont??? LOL really?? I would not agree with that sir, though I wish it were true!

Lol, shoot the messenger!! I had heard this but I guess I heard wrong. Am not too sure about this program though, I would really like to know about placements first.
