Major for Quant

I’m at a college that is probably considered a semi-target by most. It places well at Goldman and a few other big banks. I was wondering what the ideal major combination is if I wanted to go into more quantitative finance rather than banking. I am definitely pursuing a computer science major but am not sure about economics or mathematics for a double. I have heard major isn’t too important in investment banking but obviously its not quite the same when quantitative skills are necessary.

I would recommend math over Econ if you want to go into a highly quantitative field. You should research “quant” a bit more (or maybe you have, so just be more specific about the role) to make sure you are targeting the “right” quant role (as it ranges from risk on sell side to research on buy side, etc). Some will require advanced degrees.
