Master in EU and future of London

Hi, I am an Italian student in the third year of a three-year Finance degree at Bocconi (with no international experience, such as an exchange). My GPA is relatively low (around 27/30) and I have already completed a summer internship at an asset management firm, but for the summer of 2026 I am not finding anything. I therefore need to choose a master’s programme, also considering my goal of breaking into private equity. My current options are Bocconi’s Accounting & Finance (AFM), which I would like to compare with Corporate Finance at Imperial (MFA), Finance at ESCP (MiF), Corporate Finance at HEC (AFM), and Corporate Finance at HSG (MACFin). Could you share your views on these programmes and their placement outcomes? Could you also tell me something about the future of London as a finance hub?

hec afm I'd not recommend it since it's only 10 months. The outcomes are not as good as their MiF or MiM

Escp and bocconi are both very strong targets and will open you doors in PE. Most italians who are in London go to one or the other. But if one day you decide you don't want to be in London, you can quite easily find anywhere else to work in EMEA since the network is strong.

London is here to stay imo. Jpm just announced a new HQ (biggest office block in the city). Paris is growing quickly too, the BBs now have a lot of presence there, challenging incumbents like R&co.

Thank you, very helpful! Unfortunately, I don’t have a high enough grade to get into a master’s in finance, and honestly I’m more interested in corporate finance anyway. Also, it seems that almost everyone now has a master’s in finance — that’s the impression I’ve gotten from talking to people in the industry — so you increasingly see very similar profiles, with a business bachelor’s and a finance master’s. As for France, since I don’t speak French, I think I would be quite uncompetitive in the Paris job market. That means the main job markets I would realistically consider are Italy, the UK, and Switzerland.
