Master's degree in Columbia

Hello guys!

Quick question. I am currently attending Columbia University (not business school nor engineering) for a master's program in a quantitative related field. I have taken some business courses and I have pretty good quantitative background.

I'm just wondering what kind of shot I have in getting into investment banking. I can graduate with at least 3.7 GPA but I am trying for 3.9.

I know IB's like to hire MBAs and undergrads for their associate and analyst internship programs respectively.

Thanks in advance!

Hello thanks for the reply. I worked as a M&A business research intern and finance intern for a couple years before starting in Columbia. Also, I was studying to become an actuary ( I wouldn't be surprised if you don't know what that is) and spending time to pass some rigorous credential exams. I know among the bankers, they see actuaries as "insurance guys" but we do pretty rigorous math. However, I am not interested in becoming a quant, if I were I would go for a phd after columbia.

I think you have a shot as much as everyone else. The IB recruiting process at CBS is highly competitive, but there are definitely other grad students who attend those recruiting sessions from SIPA, etc. that I recall in the past. Just brush up on your interview questions, technical and fit, and schedule informationals too.
