MiM vs MSc Economics and Strategy for Business from Imperial College
Hi!
I am aiming to break into the consulting scene in London and am an offer holder for the MSc Economics and Strategy for Business programme. I applied for it over the MiM course as I wanted more quantitative modules in the course and felt it would be equally suitable for consulting. However I am second guessing myself as it is an uncommon course and not as popular as the MiM. Will it have the same standing as the MiM would in the eyes of recruiters or would I be at a disadvantage?
I have a graduate degree in accounting and a couple of years experience in corporate finance if it helps.
Both are good programs for entering the consulting scene, as you benefit from Imperial’s brand and extensive alumni network in the field.
I'd say the MSc Econ & Strat is perhaps slightly better because of its quantitative nature, but the difference isn't huge in terms of placement.
That's reassuring to hear. Thanks a lot for your insight!
Imperial's brand is mostly for STEM btw
How does the business school compare to places like Warwick and UCL according to you? I've read that its considered a level below LBS/Oxbridge but offers similar opportunities.
lower ofc
Mmmh the business school is still young, but I’ve seen great placement in recent years in consulting & finance
That’s inaccurate. Imperial Business School’s target graduate programs (MFin & MiM) have better placement than any other UK uni besides Oxbridge/LSE/LBS. Also who are you? I just checked, all your comments / threads are either about shitting on other unis or explaining how RSM and Warwick are great. My guess is you got rejected by a target and since you’re not happy with your job / uni, you spend the entirety of your time on wso. Get a life man :)
I can promise that no... I speant years helping others compared to you.
Thanks a lot for your reply. What's your opinion on their ESB program. Can it be considered at par with their MiM for recruitment?
Hi all, what other programs exist that are similar to the one mentioned in the main post? Am interested in pursuing a Master's in Econ in the UK but unsure of what programs exist. Any help to an uninformed American is appreciated.
There are a lot of "MSc Economics and Finance" programs, and also pure MSc Economics programs. The thing is, most of these programs require you to have studied economics or something super quant in undergrad. They are also very theoretical and aimed towards getting a phd. There are very few exceptions I think, Imperial seems to be one of them. Can’t recall any other tbh. Good luck
