MSF to AM
Current senior in UG at a non target B10 state school studying finance (Nebraska/Iowa) and am looking to break into AM following enrollment in a masters program. I'm planning to send out applications in early January.
My top choices at the moment are Boston College (MSQF), Duke (MMS), Villanova (MSF), and Vanderbilt (MSF).
GPA and GRE: 3.44 and 160Q and 160V
I have a MM IB internship and after completing it decided that I'd rather work in AM so I declined a FT offer.
Through my research I've found that the Duke and Vanderbilt programs are the strongest domestically, but locally don't have huge AM presences when compared to Villanova and Boston College.
Will I be able to get more interviews in Boston or Philly as a BC/Nova student at AM shops given both my proximity to their offices and more alumni in those areas? Also should probably add that I don't want to end up in NYC after graduation and would be prefer to be in smaller city like Boston/Philadelphia/Charlotte/Nashville after graduation.
I would appreciate any insights people could offer.
Bump
Can't talk about the other programs but Vandy is very IB focused. Not much campus recruiting for AM and you will have to network. I know that WashU STL has a MSF with an AM track, which might be worth looking into.
