need advice as a rising sophmore

I'm currently attending a t50 university with a strong engineering and STEM focus, but a relatively weak finance program, which has made it difficult to pursue my career goals in finance. I applied to transfer this past cycle, but only submitted applications to UVA and William & Mary, as I felt confident about my chances at UVA. However I was ultimately accepted to William & Mary but waitlisted at UVA.

I'm now trying to decide between two paths.

  1. Stay at my current school, continue building my profile, and reapply to more top schools next cycle. (id be transferrig in as a junior :/)
  2. Transfer to William & Mary now (as a sophmore) and make the best out of it.

I'd really appreciate any advice.

W&M also has a 3+2 dual degree program with columbia for engineering, which includes their financial eng program which might be worth looking in to as well.
