Need Advice--What Should I do to get an Internship my Junior Year? Do I have a chance at IB?

This is my first time posting so sorry if this post sounds stupid. I just really need advice about what I should do with my life.
I'm an international student studying at UT Austin. I'm currently finishing my Freshman year and majoring in Finance. I had a 3.8 GPA after my first semester but it will probably fall down to a 3.6-3.5. (I'm not going to make excuses about this. I just kind of slacked off and didn't work as hard as I should have.)
I also haven't gotten that many relevant experience. I failed to get an internship for the Summer. I'm doing a part time job but it's not related to Finance. I've done some Finance related clubs but haven't gotten a leadership experience in them.
Do you guys have any advice for me about what to do my Sophomore year in order to increase my chances of getting an internship for IB in my Junior year? What chances do I have of fixing things?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

There is a definite plus to being in a big city during college. You can work. It may be different for you being at THE Energy IB Target School, but I suspect, not all that much.
If I were you I would spend a significant amount of time networking with companies of any industry (that don't actively recruit on campus / don't typically have a defined intern program) and offer to work for free. Most of the time they will offer to pay, but being international you may need to be willing to accept an unpaid gig. Work every semester in a professional industry, full-time if at all possible. It's the catch 22 of job hunting. You need experience to get a job, you need a job to get experience.
Also on that note, if you need Visa sponsorship, find which firms do this (Big 4?) and do whatever it takes to land this type of role - either FT or Internship. This includes pursuing an accounting degree. And, on that note, heavy accounting will differentiate you enough to be helpful in any industry. Not every company needs their PV / FV computed, but everyone needs their books balanced.
Other than that, join every finance club you can, and participate heavily.
I can get CPT and then 12 months of OPT so I can work paid as well.
Also, I don't really care that much (geographically) where I end up. Just wanted to clarify that my goal isn't to necessarily stay in the US (get Visa sponsorship) and that as long as I get an IB offer (even if outside the US), I would be the happiest person ever. (If my only goal was to move to the US, I probably would have chosen an easier path and simply married an American guy). Thanks for your advice. I will definitely start looking for internships ASAP.
Usually as a freshmen you have not taken any upper level finance classes. Def try to be as involved as possible and try to secure an internship or research during the semester. Good start with the GPA even if not in business classes
