No MSF, No MBA

Just wondering if the experience as a broker will make me a better candidate on my MBA application. Since graduating in 08 I've worked for JP Morgan as a collector and with my Uncle's wholesale business as a ops manager. If I can't get into school I was wondering how long would I have to work as a broker till I could look to transition into a small hedge fund or boutique. Or is there a way to become a stockbroker and transition into i-banking or hedge funds, I know they require different skill sets.

Short answer: no.

From what I've gathered, unless you work at a BB as a broker the experience isn't helpful. The reality is that you'll be working a 100% sales job, so if you're good at it you could transition to sales, but you won't benefit much from the experience if you want to move into an analytical role.

Plus, brokers aren't looked upon favorably in the world of IB or HF (both of which are analysis-oriented).

Any working monkeys care to confirm my thoughts?
