For NYC IB prestige, based on the most helpful WSO content, here's the ranking:

  1. UMich Ross: Ross is a top-tier business school with strong placement in NYC IB. Its alumni network and reputation in finance make it the best choice for NYC IB among these options.
  2. Duke Econ: Duke has a strong brand name and solid placement into IB. While not a business school, its prestige and alumni network give it an edge over the others for NYC IB.
  3. Georgetown Econ: Georgetown has a good reputation, especially for NYC IB, but its econ program doesn't carry the same weight as Ross or Duke. However, its location in D.C. and access to networking opportunities still make it competitive.
  4. Northwestern Econ: Northwestern is a great school with a strong brand, but its econ program doesn't have the same direct pipeline to NYC IB as the others. It’s better suited for broader career paths or Midwest placements.

For how much you'd want to go there (based on overall experience, opportunities, and prestige):

  1. UMich Ross: The business school experience, strong alumni network, and direct access to IB recruiting make it the most desirable for someone targeting NYC IB.
  2. Duke Econ: Duke offers a prestigious degree, a great campus experience, and strong placement into finance roles, making it highly desirable.
  3. Georgetown Econ: Georgetown’s location in D.C. and its strong alumni network make it appealing, though its econ program is less targeted for IB compared to Ross or Duke.
  4. Northwestern Econ: While Northwestern is a fantastic school, its econ program doesn’t offer the same direct IB opportunities, making it slightly less desirable for someone focused on NYC IB.

duke = georgetown > northwestern > michigan (non-ross)

i would go duke for the unbeatable sports culture or georgetown for the unbeatable location.

Congrats on Georgetown!

Nice edited comment to remove the Georgetown glaze lol. It was very obvious that you’re an alum. Calling Georgetown an ivy+ over NW is certainly something.

Probably go to which ever college you like best/feel you will be the most successful at: any of them are doable to IB, but 2.8 at Duke is worse than 3.8 gtown. List probably goes: NU/Duke> Ross/gtown-MSB > gtown non-MSB.
Don’t take this as gospel: pick the school you like the most to study at/make friends/spend 4 years of your life. There are good odds you will switch majors/careers entirely before graduation.
