Oxbridge MBA Exit Opps in IB (UK/EU/APAC) with 2 years work exp??

I have recently been admitted to a 1 year MBA program (background: 24M, STEM - non comp sci or swe) kicking of this year September.

Having benefited quite a lot from the collective wisdom of these forums (without which my admit wouldn't have transpired despite the odds), I do now find myself in the next challenge - job hunting, esp during these harrowing economic conditions.

While I am super excited to have been given the opportunity to pursue an MBA from my dream school this early in my career, I do foresee many challenges. I would love to gain some insights / guidance from people in terms of how to navigate some of these challenges that I feel are unique to my circumstance.

(A) "Limited" work experience (2 years)

Since the average work experience for these programs is 5-6 years, I feel like I may be at a disadvantage for the typical post mba finance/consulting roles compared to my peers who have more experience. Speaking to people from MBB/bulge brackets I am hearing differing sets of opinions. Camp A suggest its an advantage to be young so I can target more junior roles; Camp B suggest I shouldn't target junior roles, since junior roles are for people with limited professional maturity and if I apply for them it shows I am not confident in my professional maturity despite having an MBA.

Now I am not expecting this conflict to be resolved, as both sides have some truth to them, but wanted to seek some advice regarding how to best move forward.

(B) Pivoting from STEM -> Finance

Finance:

While I have noticed people making a successful transition from STEM to IB, it is exceedingly rare to do it from a non computer science or software background. I am thinking, if I can take on finance electives, engage with finance clubs and hopefully do well in competitions whether I stand a chance to break into IB. Currently, prior to my MBA, I am knocking out some of the WSP certifications to give me a baseline.

Not expecting a BB right out the gate, but somewhat of a decent role in UK/Nordics/APAC would be nice.

Some sensibility check, potential opportunities to look out for, any general advice regarding how to make this transition successful is welcome.

Consulting:

Although finance (IB) is my end goal (as of now at least), consulting is a more natural fit for my background. A few weeks ago, I connected with someone from Mck who was very helpful and generously accepted to refer me for a role that I felt I was a good fit for. Got rejected without an interview in about a week LOL (I dont feel like I bombed the PSG that bad..).

While I know I have a whole year is ahead of me and I shouldn't stress too much about jobs just yet, but wanted to seek some advice regarding how I can strategize going forward in my MBA to enable a successful transition (whether directly into finance or into consulting first).

I am fairly open to different flavors of job function / industry / geography but just don't know what the best thing to target after my MBA is - in the long term I wish to be in an investments focused role in the infrastructure sector.

Sorry for such a long post, if you have made it this far, you are a real one!
